Abstract

Objective: Grit is conceptualized in the two dimensions of interest stability and effort perseverance. In this research, the mediating role of interest stability and effort perseverance in the relationship between optimism and self-control with learning boredom was investigated.

Materials and Methods: For this purpose, 208 students of Lorestan University were selected by stepwise random sampling; Then, they answered the Grit Scale, Learning Boredom Subscale of Achievement Emotions Questionnaire, Tangy Self-Control Questionnaire and Reversed Life Orientation Inventory. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS and AMOS software (version 21) and the path analysis method.

Results: The results of the analyzes confirmed the structural fit of the proposed model and showed that the direct and indirect paths of the model are significant except for one path (optimism to learning boredom).

Discussion and Conclusion: According to the findings of this study, optimism and self-control are two important variables in explaining learning boredom, which directly and indirectly perform this effect by improving the effort perseverance and interest stability.
