The mediating role of student's personality traits in the relationship between Object- relations and teacher-student relationship

Abstract

The aim of the present study was to investigate the mediating role of personality traits in the relationship between Object relationships and teacher-student relationship. The statistical population included all the male and female students of the second secondary school in Khonj city that 285 people were selected by using the cluster sampling method. The research tools included the Inventory of Teacher – Student Relationship questionnaire of Murray and Zvoch (2011) NEO Five-Factor Inventory questionnaire of Costa and McCrae (1985), and Bell's subject relations questionnaire (1995).The results of this study has been analyzed by The lowest and highest scores, mean, standard deviation, crookedness and elongation at descriptive level and Pearson correlation test, linear regression and path analysis were analyzed in inferential statistics section.The results of data analysis have showed that the two components of relationship and trust of teacher-student relationship variable have a negative and significant relationship with all four components of Object relationships (Ego centricity ,alienation, Insecure attachment ,Social Incompetence) and the alienation component has a significant positive relationship with all four components of Object relationships .Neuroticism personality trait had a positive and significant relationship with all four components of Object relationships, however the other four personality traits had a negative and significant relationship with the components of Object relationships .Two components of relationship and trust in teacher-student relationship variable had a negative and significant relationship with neuroticism and positive and significant relationship with four other personality traits .Conversely,
